eTown E-Chievement Award – 2012

One of the show’s most popular segments is the E-Chievement Award. For two decades and counting, listeners from around the country continue to send in tales of remarkable individuals who are working hard to make a positive difference in their communities and beyond. From massive river clean-ups to programs that help the homeless, from neighborhood environmental activists to national social and environmental organizations, we take pride in celebrating the success stories of ordinary citizens accomplishing extraordinary things.

One step at a time. That’s how things change, that’s how problems are solved. That’s the message delivered each week, as we recognize people around the country who’ve found positive solutions to challenges in their communities. Each winner is nominated by a listener and joins us live, by phone or in person, to tell their personal story on the air.

Alex Lewyt Humane Award  – 2010
The Alex Lewyt Award for Mill Dog Rescue recognized the life-saving efforts on behalf of helpless animals that are forced to live their entire lives within the confines of overcrowded cages in puppy mills.

Corgi Hero Award
Our Corgi Hero Award this week actually goes to a whole amazing organization. National Mill Dog Rescue has helped thousands of dogs, including several Corgis like Lyric (who was recently adopted)! NMDR has done AMAZING things for the pet community. They have saved 5,216 dogs from the awful confines of puppy mills and helped them find forever homes where they are now getting the love they have always deserved.
Congratulations to the whole NDMR team, this award is very much deserved!!
